Friday, October 13, 2006 - Teenagers get sex advice by text :

A pioneering pilot scheme which allows young people to get advice on sexual health issues by text message has been set up in Lincolnshire. The teenagers receive replies on their mobile phones from experts as part of the Think Project set up by the Tackling Teenage Pregnancy partnership.Questions on pregnancy and relationships will also be answered. Organisers say it is part of a broader programme to cut down on teenage pregnancies in the county.
Jan Lewis, from the Tackling Teenage Pregnancy partnership, said the project was set up following consultations with teenagers in Gainsborough."What came back from the young people is that they all have mobile phones and they feel that texting a service for information and advice gives them the anonymity and the confidentiality that they need." The group hope the pilot will be available to young people across the UK if it is successful.
